The city of Wilkes-Barre, PA, offers visitors and residents an incredible number of things to see and do in town. The Scranton Train Museum Offers History and Fun

Located within just a short distance of Wilkes-Barre is the Scranton train museum, the Steamtown National Train Museum. However, for those who want to see the “big iron,” the outdoor classic trains exhibit is the single best place to be.

The museum is also nearby an actual working steam train, which runs every half hour. The train takes you five miles through the surrounding countryside, giving you an incredible perspective on how this mode of travel worked. You will find that this Scranton museum is an ideal option for kids, teens and adults.

Other Wilkes-Barre Museum Options

If trains really aren’t your thing, never fret. There are numerous other historical options for your enjoyment in town. For example, you can take the Lackawanna Coal Mine Tour and go down into a real coal mine. This is an excellent option to help you understand what it took to fuel the Industrial Revolution in the US.
